Resident doctors go on strike
On December 25th, doctors “Residents” in Sulaymaniyah and its surroundings announced their strike because they had not been paid for the past three months. They stated “ We are entering a new year and still have not been paid 3 months of salaries for 2023. There is no sight of any news that we would get paid. Despite the situation, all health centers are still opened to serve our community. We work 190 hours a month on our expenses for (food, transportation, and daily allowances). We cannot continue to spend our savings on these costs anymore. We have declared boycott and all health centers will be closed until we get paid. Ministry of Health is well aware of the situation and has not taken an action to solve this problem”.
